CheckPoint Chemical Injection Pumps: Frequently Asked Questions

What is a chemical injection pump?

A chemical injection pump is a positive displacement metering pump that injects a precise, repeatable volume of chemical into a pressurized process line. In oil and gas, it is used to dose corrosion inhibitors, scale inhibitors, hydrate inhibitors such as methanol and MEG, biocides, demulsifiers, scavengers, and drag reducing agents into wellheads, flowlines, and pipelines.

What types of chemical injection pumps does CheckPoint manufacture?

CheckPoint designs and manufactures three families of chemical injection pumps: pneumatic plunger pumps (Series 1250, 1500, 5400, 6200, 8400, GX15) driven by instrument gas or air, electric pumps (Series ATP, FXA, SLA, MD, MDZ, S) with AC, DC, or solar power options, and solar pumps (Series FXS) for remote sites without grid power.

What flow rates and pressures do CheckPoint pumps cover?

The range runs from 0.002 USG/H on the smallest Series 1250 plunger up to over 2,000 USG/H on large electric models, and from low-pressure dosing up to 20,000 PSIG (1,379 BARG) on the Series 8400 pneumatic pump. Each product page publishes a full performance data table by model and plunger size.

How do I select the right chemical injection pump?

Selection depends on required flow rate, maximum discharge pressure, chemical compatibility with wetted materials, available power (gas, electric, or solar), and hazardous area requirements. CheckPoint provides an online pump calculator, published flow curves, and engineering support to size the pump correctly for the application.

What materials are available for the wetted parts?

Standard wetted components are 316 stainless steel. Alternative materials are available for aggressive chemicals, including Hastelloy and other corrosion resistant alloys and polymers, along with a range of seal and check valve materials. Contact CheckPoint with the chemical and concentration to confirm compatibility.

Which industries and applications use CheckPoint chemical injection pumps?

CheckPoint pumps are used onshore and offshore in oil and gas production, midstream pipelines, gas processing, refining, and water treatment. Typical applications include wellhead chemical injection, pipeline corrosion control, hydrate inhibition, DRA injection, produced water treatment, and pressure testing.

Does CheckPoint provide complete chemical injection systems?

Yes. In addition to individual pumps, CheckPoint engineers and builds complete chemical injection skids and packages, control panels, pressure test systems, and transfer and filter systems, and offers pump and system rentals.
